October 24 is International Food Day and, here at Northwestern Dining, we’re celebrating with our Eat, Drink Local event – a three-part celebration of what local Evanston has to offer and our place in the heart of the Midwest.
Have you ever wondered where the Alley Gallery was? Did you ever think to yourself, “I wish I didn’t go to Burger King every time I went downtown”? Pick up a raffle ticket in any dining hall starting on October 20 and get two stickers from local stores and restaurants, a third sticker at the Norris Fresh Market, and a fourth sticker from the Farm-to-Table dinner at Sargent on October 24, and enter to win a $100 gift certificate from Found or Farmhouse! And even if you don’t win, as long as you get all four stickers, you can take a picture of your ticket to the Alley Gallery to get a free “Doors of Northwestern University” poster!
The Fresh Market is being held on October 24 from 2-4 on Norris South Lawn (right next to Wild Roots!). Come visit with the farmers that actually grow the food you eat in the dining halls, and, if you buy an apple, then you can also turn into a caramel apple for free right on site!
Finally, turn in your ticket and eat a great Farm-to-Table dinner at Sargent Dining Hall from 5-8 on October 24. This dinner will feature Vegetarian Stuffed Cabbage Rolls from Borzynski Farms in Wisconsin, Lentils and Swiss Chard from Windy City Harvest right in Chicago, and a Dijon Turkey Burger with Apple Chutney from Mick Klug Farms!
